Last Minute Open Jazz Festival u Balama ove godine priprema svoje deseto, jubilarno, izdanje.

Funk, Soul, Disco... but not the music from back in the old days. Since 2001, the Vienna songwriter, lead singer, keyboardist, international award-winning composer and producer Albert O. Mair aka MAALO creates fresh new material mixing European songwriting with American show elements. As announced by press: „If something of the kind would be played in our OE3-Wecker (morning mainstream radio show) the world would be better.“ Since his childhood MAALO has been interested in sophisticated soul and pop music and has learned from the arrangements of great producers and bands like Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau or George Michael.

Founded in the early 1980’s, the Big Band Bad Gleichenberg has been playing together for more than three decades – full of jazz and big band music. Especially during the last couple of years, the band worked together with some of the most outstanding musicians of the international jazz scene like Bob Mintzer, Peter Herbolzheimer, Barbara Dennerlein, Don Menza, Luis Bonilla and John Riley.

With its new project, together with MAALO, the band now breaks out in a new musical direction. Presenting a line-up up of 20 musicians on stage – supported by vocalist Alexandra Regenfelder and the cuban percussionist and rapper Nelson Williams – the band will showcase songs from his last two recordings „soul stories“ and „funk fellows“.

Ratko Zjača smatra se vrlo nadarenim stilistom, u svom glazbenom makrokosmosu preuzima mnogobrojne uloge primjerice suvremenog gitarista, skladatelja, izvođača, pedagoga itd. Ratko Zjaca is an innovative musician, who is widely recognized as a technically advanced guitarist. He is known for being a relentless individualist, which is evidenced in his improvisational style. Ratko is a highly versatile player covering many areas of music but is best  known for his work in the modern jazz and improvisation idiom. He studied and graduated from Zagreb University. In his drive for the necessary knowledge and the enormous need for studies he sought his refuge in The Netherlands at the Rotterdam Conservatory, famous for its studies of modern music. There he could get teachings by well-known masters. He gives master classes all around the world for guitar and fretless guitar, in countries like Slovenia, the Netherlands, France, Croatia and the United States.
After completing his study at the Rotterdam Conservatory, he also studied at New York University School of Music. He started to work with own group and with American trumpet veteran Benny Bailey. Veja comes from Pazin, Croatia. It’s focused on researching Istrian traditional folk music and performing the same in more modern arrangements by using various traditional instruments from all over the world. Up to now, Veja has had many performances around Europe. Members are: Goran Farkaš (vocal, mih, fiddle, bagpipes, kaval), Saša Farkaš (guitar, percussions), Marko Pernić (vocal, accordion), Sebastijan Demark (bass guitar), Ljuban Rajić (cajon) and Marijan Jelenić (sound designer).

Perhaps the ancestors of Veja’s members would at first be astounded with the way in which their descendants are using mih (Istrian bagpipes), gajde (Slavonian bagpipes), kaval, fiddle, accordion and guitar together with bass guitar, djembe and cajon, but in time they would accept the fact that everything changes – thus grows, and all that grows – lives, inspires and opens new opportunities for creativity.

Atma Mundi Ensemble - "The Road to Skitacha"

Zoran Majstorović - gitara, oud, saz, ukulele

Simone Serafini - kontrabas

Borko Rupena - bubnjevi, udaraljke

Mirko Cisilino - truba

Novi album "Atma Mundi Ensemble"-a naziva "The Road to Skitacha" sniman je u studijima u Veroni i Goriziji, masteriziran u poznatom studiju "Artesuono" u Udinama, a donosi 9 novih originalnih skladbi "bandleadera" Zorana Majstorovića.

Članovi sastava su: Mario Bočić, tenor saksofon, Miron Hauser, trombon, Zvonimir Bajević, truba, krilnica, Luka Žužić, klavijature, trombon, Goran Rukavina, kontrabas, električna bas gitara i Janko Novoselić, bubnjevi. Sastav je do sada nastupao u Koprivnici (Jazz in the Woods, Koprivnica jazz festival), Zagrebu (Novi hrvatski jazz / klub Sax, Klasika i jazz na Cvjetnom, Jazz & Wine, Vip klub; Jazz & Wine Mondays, Kino Mosor, Bacchus jazz klub), Balama (Last Minute Jazz Festival), Poreču (Jazz u Lapidariju), Grožnjanu (Jazz is Back! Festival), Vrbniku, Zadru, Murteru (Festival slobodne glazbe), Šibeniku (najava Off Jazz & Blues festivala), Ljubljani (Jazz u Kavarni Slamič), Novigradu Istarskom (Koncert posvećen Bošku Petroviću), Sesvetama (Jazz bar Forum), Silbi (Caffe bar MiK), Biogradu (Grand buffet Belveder), Bilicama i Bjelovaru (Gradski muzej / Dan Grada Bjelovara). Prvo veće inozemno gostovanje banda biti će dvotjedna turneja u 8 najvećih kineskih gradova krajem kolovoza 2017. Band je tijekom studenog 2014. snimio, a 25.05.2015. promovirao svoj autorski album prvjenac Sixto u izdanju nezavisne izdavačke etikete Destinatio Tokyo na kojem se nalazi 8 kompozicija četvorice članova sastava.

B's FUNstallation (short from Baja's) is formed of young Croatian jazz musicians gathered by trumpeter Zvonimir Bajević in 2012. The project in which creative expression is fully nourished, has naturally grown from years of musicianship and friendhship of its members, who at first played together in the Croatian Jeunesse Musicale Jazz Orchestra. As young musicians grew both professionally and personally, a desire to explore their musical expression started to prevail. B's FUNstallation members had played in different Croatian jazz ensembles and had been a part of many interesting musical projects such as Tamara Obrovac Transhistria Ensemble, Elvis Stanić Group, Jazz Me Do Quintet, Satellite Quartet, Croatian Radiotelevision Jazz Orchestra and many other engagements through which they had formed their own compositional style. Some of their compositions written for B's Funstallation were recorded by Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra (Time For love by Zvonimir Bajević, arranged by Luka Žužić, Blue Line by Zvonimir Bajević, arranged by Zvonimir Bajević and Ante Gelo). Members of the ensemble are: Mario Bočić (tenor saxophone), Miron Hauser (trombone), Zvonimir Bajević (trumpet & flugelhorn), Luka Žužić (keyboards & trombone), Goran Rukavina (double bass and electric bass) and Adriano Bernobić (drums). The ensemble had been performing at different Croatian jazz festival such as Koprivnica jazz festival Jazz in the Woods, in Zagreb at New Croatian Jazz Festival, Classic and Jazz at the Flowers' Square Festival, Jazz & Wine Festival, Vip Club Jazz Festival, Last Minute Jazz Festival and many other venues throughout Croatia and Slovenia. In 2015 the ensemble released their first author album named Sixto with original compositions written by the ensemble members.

Najprije uči glasovir, a potom klarinet i gitaru.
