U organizaciji Hrvatske glazbene mladeži, Općine Grožnjan i Polivalentnog kulturnog centra Grožnjan, u Grožnjanu će se održati 16. izdanje Festivala Jazz is Back! BP. Počevši od nedjelje, 12. srpnja, festival će do zaključno 28. srpnja predstaviti ukupno 17 koncertnih večeri, a više o koncepciji i programu na konferenciji za novinare u ponedjeljak su rekli grožnjanski načelnik Claudio Stocovaz, glavna tajnica HGM-a Zagreb Dubravka Dujmović Kušan, voditeljica Međunarodnog kulturnog centra HGM-a Grožnjan Mojca Makovac i ravnatelj Polivalentnog kulturnog centra Grožnjan Rino Duniš.

Etablirana imena i mladi talentirani glazbenici

- Festival Jazz is Back! BP.

Paralelno uz Festival Jazz is Back!

12.7. Jazz orkestar HRT

Na inicijativu Jazz orkestra HRT-a, autorske skladbe Valerije Nikolovske i Viktora Lipića zaživjet će u big band verziji. Autorski dvojac Nikolovska/Lipić koji se u posljednjih nekoliko godina (od 2008.) predstavlja kroz jazz trio LiVaDa (uz bubnjara Damira Šomena) svoje skladbe prepustio je iskusnim aranžerima i redovitim suradnicima Jazz orkestra HRT-a: Andreasu Marinellu, Luki Žužiću i Joeu Kaplowitzu. Njihov rukopis, uz jednu autorsku skladbu producenta orkestra Igora Geržine, pokazao se kao idealna kombinacija insajderskog poznavanja big band formacije i skladateljske invencije, a o međusobnom prepoznavanju i razvoju sjajne suradnje svjedoči i studijsko snimanje skladbi u jesen 2014. pod vodstvom Andreasa Marinella.

Godine 2000. objavljuje samostalni album The Bright Side of the Blues (Aquarius Records), a 2004. autorski album Open. Istovremeno niže suradnje primjerice s Josipom Lisac, Zdenkom Kovačiček, Meri Cetinić, Ivanom Kindl, Kristijanom Beluhanom, Matijom Dedićem, Elvisom Stanićem, Majkama i Dinom Dvornikom te s Jazz orkestrom HRT-a.

Kao producent, aranžer, autor i izvođač sudjelovao je na albumima The Bright Side of the Blues i Open Valerije Nikolovske. Sklada, aranžira i svira u Triju LiVaDa.

13.7. Ethno Croatia

Detalje o ostalim Ethno kampovima potražite OVDJE.

Svake godine orkestar vode dobro znani svjetski glazbenici, a ove godine umjetnički voditelj ovog ansambla jest američki trombonist, skladatelj i pedagog Luis Bonilla.

BP 14. srpnja. (T. TIDIĆ)

Robert Jukič ROBERT JUKIČ

Bassist, composer, arranger and producer Robert Jukič is one of Slovenia's most versatile and fruitful musicians. Starting out on electric bass as a teenager playing in different bands was the beginning of his musical life. Since then he has been playing with various Slovenian and international artists and has been exposed to different styles of music, which also reflects in his records. There are nine records under his name spanning from different styles of jazz to classical and world music, from alternative pop to chanson as well as traditional blues, folk and country music. As a bassist or composer/arranger he is featured on over 60 records with other artists proving his musical range. An eclectic, constantly self-reinventing artist.

Robert has been appearing for a number of years in venues both in Slovenia and beyond (Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Georgia, Croatia, Israel, Italy, Japan, France, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Morocco, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Slovakia, Serbia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Great Britain, USA, etc.).

A long list of performers and groups he has worked with as an instrumentalist and composer is virtually boundless – in terms of national or musical boundaries alike. His full sound enriched the recordings of many constellations and their conceptions Mario Gonzi, Adrien Mears, Owen Hart JR., Oliver Kent, Flip Phillip, Ed Partyka, Martin Reiter, Renato Chicco, Jonathan Blake, Nicole Henry, Antoine Drye, Jim Rotondi, Greg Tardy, Ernesto Simpson, Owen Howard, Howard Curtis, Andy Middleton, Femi Temowo, Deborah Brown, Pietro Iodice, Miles Griffith, Danny Grisset, Sheila Cooper, Steve Klink, Jasper Bloom, Stephane Spira, Duško Gojković, Daniele d`Agaro, Tony Pancella, Rob Bargad, European Movement Jazz Orchestra, Generations international youth band, Big Band RTV Slovenia, etc...

Robert writes music for his and other bands as well as for short movies, multimedia performances and art installations. He also works with theater and teaches. He was awarded 2nd jury and public choice awards at the Slovenian jazz composition competition in 2008. The release of his 5th CD for which he wrote the words as well as the music was yet another showcase of his strengths.

Robert is an eclectic musician who has ventured many musical worlds. Following three jazz albums ("How About That!?", "Phases of One", "Jazz for Masses"), he proceeded to pursue an expression beyond genre, which resulted in the "Radio" album. In "Dobrote iz Skrinje Zarote" ("Goodies from the Chest of Conspiracy") he tackled western movies, blues, and folk songs; with "Operation Charlie" he returned to the jazz "tradition" - an album that strikes one as inspired and infused with the "antique" spirit, yet simultaneously fresh, contemporary, and free. A live recording of his band Kramp which performs the music from "Dobrote iz skrinje zarote" was released in 2012. In 2013 he returned to the exploratory side and released "Life", which is a musical journey through all stages of a human life. He developed the concept of a multi-genre record which he used on "Radio" and combined jazz, classical and world music to paint a soundscape of life.

He works as a bassist, double-bassist, composer, and arranger. His love for music dates back to his teens when, a self-taught electric bass player, he played in many groups whose music has left a lasting impression on his subsequent work. He completed his formal education at the jazz department of the renowned University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He has released nine albums featuring his original compositions, as well as appeared on CDs of other artists of many different genres. His compositions are performed by small jazz bands, big bands, smaller chamber ensembles, and both popular and alternative performers. He was awarded the Second Prize of the jury and the Audience Prize at the Jazzon 2008 composition contest.

17.7. Mike Sponza The blues of the month club

I am thinking about a “blues revue” with a show based on classic blues: guitar/piano/upright bass/harmonica/drums.

A quintet, with one of the best european harmonica player - Marco Pandolfi.

If possible, with real piano on stage (great boogie pianist form Trieste).

There’s a young upright bass player, 20 years old, but soooooo good!

What critics are saying about JD Walter:

“Walter is reshaping what jazz singing is all about. He is opening up familiar material to the most adventurous kinds of interpretation, while continuing to engage and entertain his audiences…he is an original in an art overpopulated with copycats.” – Don Heckman, LA Times – Live Jazz review from the Jazz Bakery

“Dispensing with widely known themes of Luis Armstrong, Bill Evans or Stevie Wonder, the musician offers absolutely provocative points of view on traditional jazz”  Review from Kharkov Za Jazz Festival, Ukraine- Andrei Gorshkov- Inform magazine vol-3

“Vocalist JD Walter displayed a talent for scat singing that rivals the best in jazz history” – Michael Caruso, The Chestnut Hill Local (Philly, PA)

“The guy is like an instrument – a phenomenon!!” – Dave Liebman

“The really important thing is that starting from the first sound, JD captures the listeners’ attention and now they completely belong to him.” – Maria Panteleyeva, Poinyl Jazz Report, Nizhniy Novogorod, Russia

“I mean, he scats like nobody else. Comparisons fail me. He plays with long tones like Betty Carter, takes risks like Kurt Elling, possesses a velvety smoothness like Mel Torme, investigates wordless ululations like Milton Nascimento, croons with the confident serenity of a Nat Cole.” – Bill Donaldson, Marge Hofacre’s JAZZ NEWS

“The Philly vocalist with the soaring improvisational style… showcases both his Betty Carter-esque way of elasticizing a melody and his adept scat singing…” – Nate Chinen, Downbeat critic

“He does to a song what Betty Carter did, making it uniquely his own. ‘Turn Out the Stars’ will convince you. Walter is a natural who has ‘can’t miss’ written all over him.” – Frank Rubolino, Cadence magazine

“Five stars! Five stars I tell you! ‘Sirens in the C- House’ is without a doubt a five star CD…From track one to track nine a stunner.” – Don Williamson, Allaboutjazz

Klemens Marktl is one of the most talents to come out of Europe on his instrument. He also shows his ability to compose on a level not often associated with drummers and that is refreshing because it is a testimony to his total musicianship.
